Exeter City

Exeter is a city in Devon, England. It is the county town of Devon. Exeter was founded in Roman times and became an important trading port during the medieval period. The city’s prosperity was based on its position as a gateway to Cornwall and Ireland, which meant that it had to defend itself against attack from both directions. In 1284 the city walls were built for protection against Scottish raiders and this set the pattern for subsequent defences: there are seven towers still standing today (some have been incorporated into modern buildings). Exeter Cathedral dates back to Norman times but most of what you see today is Victorian work done between 1843-1864 by Sir George Gilbert Scott (who also designed London’s St Pancras station). Visitors will find plenty of places to visit in Exeter and many more things to do outside of them too! There are several museums including the Museum of Country Life with its collection of farm machinery; there’s also an excellent museum dedicated to local history called ‘The Old Grammar School’ which contains some interesting artefacts such as ancient coins, pottery shards, fossils etc.; if you want something really different then why not take your kids along here – they can learn all about how children used to live 200 years ago! If you prefer indoor activities then you could always go shopping at one or two great shopping centres like Park Street or St David’s Shopping Centre; just remember that these centres close early so make sure that you plan ahead when going out at night!
